Abacja (now Opatija) already at the end of the 18th century became known as the town of austrowęgierskim on the Adriatic Sea, to the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries to be okrzykniętą the capital of the Austrian Riviera. After the end of World War I was Abacja of Italy, and after 1945 was within the boundaries of Yugoslavia, initially and then Croatia.
